January 7, 2012 Shipmates! On May 24, 1969, The USS SAN DIEGO AFS-6 was commissioned in San Diego, California. Next year, May 19, 2012, USS SAN DIEGO
LPD-22 will be commissioned, and will be the Fourth Navy ship to bear our great name. Commander Jon Haydel, Prospective Commanding
Officer of LPD-22, has personally invited all AFS-6 shipmates to attend. At this most historic event, shipmates from three
SAN DIEGO ships; WWII Light Cruiser CL-53, Combat Supply Ship AFS-6 and the New Amphibious Transport Dock ship LPD-22, will
be represented. Along with the invitation to attend the Commissioning, we felt this would be a great opportunity to hold a reunion to celebrate
the 43rd Anniversary of the AFS-6 Commissioning. On behalf of the AFS-6 Reunion Committee,
we are pleased to announce our 3rd Reunion which will take place May 17-20, 2012 in San Diego. This invitation is extended
