Reunion Committee Comments:
“I would like to personally thank all who attended
the 1st of which I hope will be many reunions. It made all the work Walt and I, along with the
rest of the committee very worth while. The comments I heard were positive and everyone seemed to enjoy
the reunion. The friendships that were renewed is priceless and made it more worthwhile. Many thanks to
all who attended, and to Walt & Becky for all the work you two did. My heartfelt thanks.”

“USS SAN DIEGO Shipmates…..our 1st
Reunion was, in a word, FANTASTIC! The 125 folks who found their way to Norfolk found old friendships renewed
and new friendships made. The smiles, sea stories, and just catching up on everybody’s doings made
the weekend all worthwhile. And we had snipes, deck apes, supply types, docs, you name it, they were there.
I was proud to be one of 7 Supply Corps Officers who showed up….. and I’m glad I did. God
Bless all you Shipmates who took the time to come and rejoin “The Best”. Color me proud, standing
tall and looking forward to our next reunion of “The Best”. Captain Len

“I would like to thank everyone who was able to attend
the USS SAN DIEGO reunion. I know I had a great time talking to fellow shipmates that I served with, and
the new friend’s that served on the ship before and after I did. I hope everyone looks forward to
the next reunion, and hope you will talk to other’s who did not know about the reunion and encourage more of our shipmates
to attend. Looking forward to seeing everyone again in the future. HMC

“Over the years, I had searched the reunion web sites
hoping for a chance to rekindle some of the spirit that I enjoyed serving with many great men that were members of “The
Best” duty assignment I had while serving our great country in the United States Navy. At our reunion,
I was able to meet many old friends from my era on board and make many new friends from other years. The
one thing that we all seemed to have in common were the stories of our individual memories of “The Best” ship
in the fleet. As a member of the reunion committee, I was pleased to see that everybody from the Commissioning
to the Decommissioning Crews got together and showed the spirit of what our ship was all about. I would
like to thank all of those who attended our first reunion and I hope to see them and many more at our next reunion.

“Brian and I started to work on our first reunion
in January 2007. Along the way, I received many emails, calls and letters from shipmates thanking us for
getting a reunion started. Along the way, I not only found new shipmates, but I found new friends.
It was a pleasure to be with all my new friends at the reunion.” SK2 Walt
